HISTORY
The name of this site comes from two Placebo songs. "Suckerlove", is a word taken from the Without You I'm Nothing song, Every Me, Every You. "Suckerlove is heaven sent, you pucker up, our passion's spent".
The subtitle, "soulmates never die" is a line taken from the Sleeping With Ghosts track of the same name, also known as Soulmates. "Hush, dry your eye. Soulmates never die".
This site has evolved from what first started as the crazed idea of rougevelvet to start a placebo (mainly Stefan/Brian) live journal community. Soon she was joined by muse_in_my_head, dry_your_eyes, steppi, pixilatedpirate and the creation snowballed from there. With in a short period of time we had 250+ loyal members, coming together to post fic, vids, LOTS OF PICS, jokes, theories, placeboessays...basically anything our depraved minds could conjure up!
...it is also worth noting that originally the community/therefore the site was called, "sucker's dream" but the name was scrapped before official release.
The community was released with the promotional tool of a slashy Stefan/Brian 'colorbar' to let members of the community spread the word and display their love for the group in their journals, blogs, sites.

Mid October 2004, the site was in jeopardy when we discovered our original home at soulmate.suckerlove.net was soon to perish! Of course this was upsetting to the thousands of visitors to the site and immediately we began fundraising to obtain our own domain!
With thanks to deadbetty, lillyamelie, placebobitch, mendmyheart, velvet_moon & nanouk, we were able to reach our goal! ...the result is where you are now...http://sucker-love.com.
♥ In 2005 the fundraising ball was set in motion with some entertaining campaigning, and the offer of customised membershipcards to those who donated $10US. I'm pleased to say that in record time we had funds raised and even a little left over to spare, which we were able to spend on upgrading our LJ community to a paid account!

| Fuck Buddy | Friends with benefits. Casual sexual partners, but not in a (committed) relationship. |
| Gay (Tree) Dancing | A description of Stefan’s elaborate stage dancing. Fans picked up on the terminology from the Soulmates Never Die: Live in Paris, documentary in which Brian states. "Stef get out there and do your gay dancing. These people need entertaining". Some fans occasionally add “tree” due to Stefan’s flailing limbs resembling a tree blowing in the wind. |

| Perspective Slash | A visual illusion of slash. Where photographs or video provide the viewer with a limited dimension/perspective that gives the illusion of slash, when in actuality there is none. |
| RPS | Real Person Slash. Generally used when referring to fan fiction where real people are used, not fictional characters. |

| Slash (Fiction) | Fictional stories that are created by members of different fandoms. The name slash fiction has it's historical basing from early 70's startrek fiction. Slash fiction features two members of the same sex paired, generally in a sexual relationship. The term slash comes from the symbol (" / ") used to separate the names, ie, Stefan/Brian. Historically the "top" of the pairing will be listed first, before the slash, with the "bottom" being placed after the slash. This helps indicate to the reader what the author has in mind before reading begins.

One night, as Brian was waiting for the tube at South Kensington Station, destiny took its course. He was headed to a pub for an accoustic gig with Steve Hewitt when he recognized Stefan Olsdal. Excited from seeing someone from his past Brian loudly shouted "Stefan Olsdal!" The tall blonde Swede turned towards the little voice that was calling his name.
"Brian Molko?" he inquired not certain if the ladyman infront of him was indeed his ex-classmate or not.
.....Brian revealed he was playing at a gig that night, Stefan didn't really want to go with him but Brian insisted. Feeling a bit uncomfortable by Brian's sudden friendliness, Stefan asked him for his phone number for courtesy. The two chatted a bit longer til Brian convinced Stefan to see him perform. It was this performance that convinced Stefan that a band should be formed and that Brian would be the singer. He said "I'll play bass for you." Brian and Stefan soon began to disclose personal information to one another.
"I think I'm gay," Stefan revealed quiet timidly.
"So? That's no big deal. I'm bisexual." Brian said confidently. As the hours of the night grew smaller, the more the two discovered to have in common.
"It was perfect. We just gelled." Brian would describe that night's experience later on in his life.
