Placebo News[9] Comments
After a period of uncertainty we can finally confirm that, as initially suggested, Song To Say Goodbye will be Placebo’s first single off of their fifth album; and is set to be released on February 27th, 2006. [see other posts RE 'Because I Want You' single]
Thanks to xsofplacebo for the heads up and congratulations to the webmasters on becoming the Official French fansite, a title well deserved!
Sweet Prince also tells us that the [still untitled] album is confirmed to follow on March 13th, 2006. [Dates may vary from region to region for charting release days].
Finally I’ll end this update with another site plug… it really is great being a part of and seeing all these great sites working together, sharing information and networking. Now we can add another to the list with the return of The Basement, and a new competition to boot!

Greetings from Stefan Olsdal [to BSH members 2001], “I guess this is the time for us to wish you guys a happy x-mas, but does anyone out there really celebrate it? Personally we ditched the presents a long time ago and just went for the food and drink. Still want you to have a good time off though. Get as pissed as you like.”
According to Brian’s December 2005 interview on Virgin Radio, their drinking tradition is still going strong! From suckerlove, we hope all those who celebrate this festive season are making a good time of it, and even to those who don’t, hope you’re well.
Best wishes to our favourite band, I hope they’re all relaxing and drinking up plenty!
To your left you’ll notice a reduced sized version of a gorgeous festive slash drawing by Molkita and Jack Fairy! It hasn’t been placed on the site just yet, but you can view the full version @ the suckerlove community.
Also as we’re in a bit of a slash dry season ‘slash-manips’ are the trend of the moment and I have added FIVE image manipulations to our new section!
If there’s no news in the next few days have a great new year, 2006 looks to be very exciting… and feel free to pop in and say hi, etc!

Some interesting and very varied news is circulating regarding a potential release date for the first single.
EDIT: For confirmed Single/Album release dates, see this news post
Some sources have been saying the single will arrive as late as Feb 27th, so with conflicting news from all over we’ll have to sit tight for now. Perhaps, as RTL2 suggested, we’ll hear it in January and be able to buy it in February?
Additionally, for various reasons I’d been questioning whether Song to Say Goodbye was going to be the first single Radio1 has the first single listed as Because I Want You.
Placeboworld, give us a clue, eh?! Teases! At this stage we’ll stick with Song to Say Goodbye as the frontrunner?
Placeboworld have announced yet another festival in Placebo’s increasingly busy year ahead. Placebo will headline the three day
Nova Rock Festival 2006 at Pannonia Fields II in
Austria on 16th June.
You can obtain tickets online from musicticket.at
or call the ticket hotline 0043 196096.

Obviously not confirmed, but an interesting find by sucker-love.com when reading dailyrecord
Ewen Bremner, 34, who played Spud in Trainspotting … has been spending time on the other side of the camera.
He’s been directing a documentary on rock band Placebo for the release of their fifth album.
He said: “I knew them a little when they started out but hadn’t seen them since until they approached me to do this.”
“It’s my first time directing and I’m enjoying it. It’s certainly a lot of hard work. The plan is to include the documentary with the album when it’s released.”
Also as you may have noticed I’ve added news of Placebo’s February 19th 2006 appearance @ Bangkok 100 Rock Festival to the news calendar. Perhaps I’ll need to set up a tour calendar soon!?

Producer Dimitri Tikovoi and German music journalist, Peter Flore, had a listening session in Cologne. If translations are correct, according to the article (intro.de) Placebo’s first single from the forthcoming [still untitled album] will be ‘Song To Say Goodbye’.
EDIT: Song To Say Goodbye AND Because I Want You confirmed, as the first singleS.
