New Meds Promo Pictures: (more…)

Well it certainly has been an exciting few days for many fans who were lucky enough to be involved in the making of Placebo’s new music video for Because I Want You on 24th January 2006.

After the call for extras was placed on the official website, word travelled quickly and fans were soon jockeying for a position in line at Koko. Unfortunately the request for people was also broadcast to non fans and on radio, so I hear it did cause a bit of commotion when an abundance of people turned up and not all were able to get in…though prior to the day those attending were warned of this occuring. Many braved the cold for hours on end, some were rewarded with pizza from the band’s management! There’s a message on Placeboworld to thank everyone for attending, particularly those who were unfortunately turned away.

On the whole, I’ve read those who did attend had largely positive experiences, something they’ll never forget…something the rest of us not able to attend will be jealous about forever. The band took the time to meet a lot of fans, sign autographs and I’m told all seemed in good moods.

6 fans specially chosen by the band were hand picked to have larger roles in the video[s] and requested for a second day of filming on the 25th January! Lucky them!!

Okay so for some brief tidbits of interest before I give you some links from which you can read more about them from some first hand detailed fan reviews. (more…)

Previously uncovered by suckerlove, confirmation has now come in on the Special DVD Edition of Meds:

From the-raft.com

‘Meds’ mark the return of a very confident band that after a decade together just keep growing in stature. The album will be released on CD, LP and special edition pack with an extended booklet with lyrics and a bonus DVD.

The DVD contains a documentary by Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting), some previously unseen live footage and the Bloc Party remix of ‘Because I Want You’, as well as three previously unreleased tracks and a photo gallery! Phew…

Also we can show you the cover to Placebo’s single, Song To Say Goodbye, available March 6th. [click the image for bigger view]

There’s some interesting rumours floating around about the B-Sides on the singles and special tracks on the album, all making great anticipation toward their release!

Also hearing rumblings of UK tour dates (in April?) and Brian has said “the holy trinity of the ‘bo” will be in Australia sometime in 2006!

Stay tuned folks!

LYRICS: Placebo – Song To Say Goodbye (more…)

The single confusion has at last been made clear.

Because I Want You will be released to the UK only and Song To Say Goodbye will be the worldwide single. So far both tracks are set down for a February 27th March 6th release, but subject to change. Hopefully this means two music videos!

Now that we’ve heard one single, on Monday 16th January get over to RTL2 @ 9pm [French time] as they’ll be playing Song To Say Goodbye between 9pm – 12am.

Also Ferarock will be making a special Placebo broadcast on February 20, stay tuned for more details.

** Out of respect for the band [and this site] please do not post requests for or links to official songs/MP3s in the news comments.

Big news from Placeboworld folks!

Hear the first play of the new single tonight [Jan 9th UK EST]!

You can hear the world exclusive play of ‘Because I Want You’ on Steve Lamacq on Radio 1 tonight between 9PM-1AM.

♪ Those who missed the ‘live’ airing, for the next 7 days you can listen to the streaming audio of the show on the Radio 1 site, the song was played just after 10pm.

On 6 MarchVirgin Records will release Placebo’s new single, ‘Because I Want You’.

Steve did inform us that Song To Say Goodbye was going to be the single, either we’re expecting two, a double A side, or this is the same song, but they’ve given it a different name.

‘Because I Want You’ will be the first single from the band’s fifth as-yet-untitled album. It’s an urgent, impassioned plea to unrequited love; three-and-a-half minutes of joyous pop, reminiscent of the band’s early work and a strong indication of what to expect from the new album.

As mentioned, the as yet untitled album, will be released on 13th March on Virgin Records. More details to follow shortly.
