TV Appearances:
February 25th: On Saturday at 12pm [*Unfortunately there was a mixup and Placeboworld posted the wrong time. It was aired around 10am] T4 (Channel 4 ) Placebo will perform ‘Because I Want You’. [UK]
March 4th: They will also be appearing on CD:UK (ITV1) the following Saturday. [UK]
March 9th: On Thursday 9th 4music (Channel 4 ) will air a show with Placebo showcasing songs from their new album, Meds, an interview with Brian and the band will perform a ‘classic single’! [UK]
March 11th: Exclusive concert on Canal + (date subject to change) [France]

American Release Date:
-Astralwerks have said that Meds will not be released in the USA until 4th April 2006.
French News:
-effet-placebo has updated with a new layout and competition for French fans to win tickets for an exclusive performance being filmed for Canal+ on 27th February.
-Placebo are appearing on the COVER of French Rolling Stone magazine.
-Those on the 3G network on SFR [telephone company] will have access to special clips of Placebo available to download. There are 10, minute long, ‘episodes’ on the making of the new album Meds and are priced at 1 Euro each. There are also acoustic versions of some songs from the album which will be made available to 3G customers.

A mammoth thank you to thalia1702 for kindly sharing her scans of germany’s Visions magazine from March 2006, and to belladonnachild for translating yet again!
Placebo are on a roll. With “Meds” they return to where they started out from: a brilliant, perfectly attuned live band without unnecessary flourishes that can capture the feeling of spontaneous community on record, too. Or, as Brian Molko calls it: “You can really hear us playing again, not just fiddling with buttons.” Responsible for this are time, self-confidence and a young blond man, who so far hardly anyone except for them knows: Dimitri Tikovoi. With the release of Meds just around the corner on March 3rd the French radio station Pop Rock, on RTL2, will be airing an exclusive interview with Placebo.
The show is hosted by Francis Zégut and will be aired March 3rd, between 10 – 11pm.
International listners can listen online. Visit the site and click ‘RTL2 En Direct’.

Placebo are not yet old enough to blow kisses or give advice as ‘elder statesmen’. And we still have to wait a little for their personal Kid A. First of all they’re a 3 piece rock band like never before. Which when drunk only know one thing: HipHop. It’s a shame. (more…)

Now confirmed on xsofplacebo, these are small warm up gigs held in tiny venues so tickets are limited to one per person and will only be available for purchase from certain French outlets.

Finally we have confirmation and a title on the Serge Gainsbourg tribute album. It is entitled “Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited” and will be released 27th Feburary 2006.
I’m unsure whether it will just be a French release, but it is available for order here, from fnac.com.
Audio samples are now also available on the site.
The album features the known cover Ballad of Melody Nelson by Placebo, and we also get a new collaboration that has been talked about for years, Requium Pour Un Con [Requiem For A Jerk], by Faultline, Brian Molko & Francoise Hardy.

At last we’ll get a glimpse of the video we’ve all been hearing so much about!
A snippet from the ‘Because I Want You’ music video will be played on B4, on UK’s Channel 4, next week on Monday, February 6th and the next day in full on Feb 7th, 8th and 9th. The show airs daily on Channel 4 at 7am. This will be the first play on terrestrial TV of this video.
The video was directed by Russell Thomas, who also directed the band’s ‘Soulmates Never Die – Live in Paris 2003′ DVD.

With the pink line abstract artwork being declared ‘promo covers’, it seems these are our actual singles covers…personally I’m still confused, but let’s go with it, eh?
Get your pre-orders in, you’ve got two singles and six formats to choose from…of course “I’ll take all six, thank you!” is a very good choice too!
Check with your local stores regarding pre-orders etc, and worldwide release is still set for March 6th.
