Though Placebo did not come away with Kerrang!’s award for Best Single, the night was not without accolades! Congratulations to Placebo for coming away as Kerrang!’s Classic Songwriter of 2006, selected by the K! Awards Judging Panel!

“By nature we kind of really hate nostalgia so we just keep looking forward the whole time. …But it’s good to still be around, to still be attending these kinds of functions,” said the band’s singer Brian Molko.

Someone call the ambulance? No need to when you’ve got one of your own! Placebo arrived in their own creative way, an ambulance decked out with Placebo ensignias ta-boot!

You can watch highlights of the Kerrang! Awards on Kerrang TV on Sunday and Monday night, 27th & 28th August.

STEFAN OLSDAL COLLABORATES WITH FANGORIA

Placebo’s next singleS!
On August 16th 2006 French fans returned from their Placebo gig at Colmar (see right) and reported that scenes for the bands next video, Meds, were shot at the concert. It is understood that the live footage will be spliced in with material filmed at other locations. Regarding past information from artist Timo Maas, it seems that Space Monkey will not be a single in its own right, but perhaps his remix will appear as a B-Side on Meds.
According to sirendisc.com the expected release date is October 2nd, 2006 and will be released in the following formats:

    7″ vinyl single
    CD single 2 track
CD single 3 track + Video

For a while now we’ve been hearing rumblings about Follow The Cops Back Home having a casting call and video filmed in California, USA. With so many single names being thrown about (seems to be the trend this album!) it was hard to know what was true. However it appears that this track will indeed be a single, but only for the United States. It was directed and shot by Daniel Askill several months ago.

Placebo have been busy touring all the festivals and doing some of their own shows. Whilst at the Pukkelpop Festival radio station Studio Brussel caught up with Placebo’s drummer Steve Hewitt (as seen left) and you can listen to the interview here.

Placebo MySpace VIDEOS
As you may know Placebo have an Official MySpace run by their American record label, astralwerks. Over the last week or so Brian and Stefan have sent video messages to the fans, check them out!

Also for fans of Xavoir Roide (aren’t we all?!), you can veiw a gorgeous teaser from his latest project, Paul St. Paul & The Apostles, on YouTube here! If you live in the UK get along to one of their shows! Their second show is on September 2nd, @ Stay Beautiful, The Purple Turtle, Camden.

TOUR:
American fans, your ticket presales start TODAY!

LIVE PICTURES (more…)

Placebo are finally returning to America after a three year absence! They will be co-headlining with She Wants Revenge. This is not the first time Placebo have teamed up with members of SWR. Justin Warfield features as a guest vocalist on the track Spite and Malice, featured on Placebo’s album Black Market Music, and more recently Stefan Olsdal remixed a SWR track with his side project Hotel Persona.

Also of note to American fans, we’re told their 10th Anniversary Collector’s Edition re-release of Placebo will be on October 3rd 2006.

USA TOUR DATES: (more…)
