December 2006

To finish off 2006 in our usual slashtacular fashion, as promised I have finished a site update. But firstly some well wishes and thank yous are in order!

So, thanks to everyone for another great year, the community members, mods, the site helpers, visitors, donators and content contributors. Thanks to the boys for providing us with another year’s supply of music, touring and slash (though it’s never as much as we’d like!!), thanks to Astralwerks, EMI AU, Rosie Beaton, Triple J and the loveable Xavior Roide.

See you in 2007! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    SITE UPDATES:
The image gallery and fan fic sections are now largely automated, so you will need to get in the habit of checking those regularly to find your new slashy treats. Both have ‘recently updated’ sections, so this should not be difficult.

That said, 21 images have just been added to the image gallery today, and I know plenty of new fic has appeared.

If you want a fresh start for your new year, pick up one of our 4 new wallpapers.

3 fantastic new videos are now available to download. Quite a bit longer footage than the usual short snippets.

There’s another 30 icons added for your journal, blogging, myspace or forum use.

7 image manipulations are to be added in the next day or so, stay tuned.

And if you’re new to the site or still not familiar with the location of all our content, check out the newly updated Site Map.

Placebo are ever the busy bees which means we’re never short of info to update. However hopefully they’re having a nice break from touring and some downtime over this holiday period. Meanwhile Stefan will be back at it with Hotel Persona just after the new year on January 1st in Madrid.

What albums have been on DJ Stef’s stereo for 2006?
Stefan
TV On The Radio – Return To Cookie Mountain
Sonic Youth – Rather Ripped
Fiona Apple – Extraordinary Machine
dEUS – Pocket Revolution
Eagles Of Death Metal – Death By Sexy

Oh, okay, you too Brian…
Brian
Yo La Tengo – I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass
TV On The Radio – Return To Cookie Mountain
Sonic Youth – Rather Ripped
Cat Power – The Greatest
An Original Soundtrack By Mogwai – Zidane-A 21st Century Portrait

Finally before reaching the visual feast, we pass on this message from Placebo to you. As the white, Make Poverty History, band on this site shows, Placebo are no stranger to moral causes. Once more they are urging all of us to support a worthy project. Noticed the wacky weather and bizarre un-seasonal temperatures we’ve been having? You’re not the only one affected, visit global-cool.com to find out how you can help solve this world crisis!

Let’s rewind and take a step back to when Placebo were in the USA. I have many great photos sent in from fans who attended various gigs, this set was taken on November 11, 2006 in Boston, USA by tattered_laces.

It has been a while since we’ve posted a full length interview from current band members on the site, so a couple have rolled along, one with Stef and Brian talking to guitar makers, Fender in the UK and another with Brian going solo, talking to The Berlin Paper.

So, read on and in the meantime I hope to have a site content update with several videos and treats done by the end of the year! Though if you’re a part of our community you’ve already been spoiled with many advanced treats for members only! (more…)

Many Placebo treats for fans visiting sucker-love.com. Plenty of multimedia and freebies to be had!

INTERVIEW PODCASTS:

  • Mexican podcast Dixo has provided a short phone interview they had with Brian in which he talks about filesharing from both the consumer and artist points of view.
  • Musichead (EMI Australia) have an interview in video format online with Steve and Stefan that was recorded September 20th in Sydney, Australia. They caught up with the lads just moments before the band took to the stage at the Hordern Pavillion on their recent trip to Australia. The 8 minute video sees the boys chat backstage about the new album, the Internet and influencing the next generation.
  • View the musichead video on YouTube, Podcast or Download File.

Australian’s should also note that the 10th Anniversary Edition of Placebo is now finally available in stores!

Alyssa took a great set of pictures at the recent New York City, USA gig. Here are a few samples and drop by her gallery to see many more.
