If you’ve been roaming around the site the last few days you’ll have noticed some big content updates.
The primary change is that the Fan Art has moved home, it can be accessed via the main image gallery where it has its own forum and sub forums for artists with multiple pieces of work, and a lil Adults Only Area for the more risque pieces! However you’ll still end up in the right place if you navigate through the Creative Art page. Not only has it moved but we’ve added A LOT of new work. Hopefully its new home will make it easier for more frequent updates.
STATS:
♪ 103 new icons/avatars for forums, journals, MySpace etc
♪ 11 image manipulations, where there’s more than meets the eye
♪ 7 slashilicious new videos available for download. We have quite a collection now! Don’t forget iSlash if you have a video iPod and if you have a slashy video not on the site, please send it in!
♪ A whopping 84 new photographs in the various slash galleries. Be sure to wander through, click on the intermediate image for full viewing, send e-cards to friends and rate your favourite and worst pictures!
♪ Wander to the History section and you’ll see a brand new extensive suckerlove dictionary!! Get up to speed on that slash vernacular!
Finally, many people have been asking about the return of the Fan Fiction. Since the archive was hacked earlier this year we will have to rebuild from scratch. This took a lot of time the first time round and we will unfortunately likely not get it back in working order until early next year. A word of advice for those suffering Placebo slash fic withdrawal. Join the suckerlove_ live journal community and you’ll be able to read the latest juicy fic posted by all our talented authors, not to mention have access to many other daily treats!

Yes, we here at sucker-love.com are already in the advanced stages of SHWS: Steve Hewitt Withdrawal Syndrome. So as a treat we’ve dug up something that we haven’t seen bouncing around other sites and forums.
For those not in the know, Vic Firth is apparently “the world’s largest manufacturers of drumsticks and mallets”. During Projekt Revoltion Revolution they have done a lil profile on many of the drummers on tour, including our beloved Steve Hewitt.
The site has a nifty segment on each drummer including photographs, video footage and details of what drumsticks are used and why. There’s also a poster available for download (feat. Steve as seen left).
Other featured drummers include; Bob Bryar – My Chemical Romance, Gas – HIM, Elias Andra – Julien-K, Alex Rodriguez – Saosin and Dan Torelli – Medina Lake.
Oh and for those wondering about Steve’s measurements…extra long with a “Taj Mahal” tip. Powerful, fast and responsive. L=16 13/16″, Dia.=.580″ …drumstick measurements that is!

Side Projects[13] Comments
Though in downtime from touring with Placebo, bassist Stefan Olsdal has his creative hands full at the moment.
His latest musical venture includes collaborative work with Madrilenian band, SPAM. The group describe their sound as electronica/indie/rock and their next album is entiled, Más SPAM (More SPAM). The album goes on sale 23 October 2007 and Stefan’s bass work can be heard on the tracks Hazlo Así and Necesito Más. Check out SPAM and listen to some streaming samples @ myspace.com/SPAMspain
While we’re talking side projects of Mr Bo Olsdal, drop by the myspace for Stef’s other project, Hotel Persona, where you can get a free download of a new remix for Queiro Volar: Hotel Persona vs. Made of Stars Remix Bootleg.

In March of this year sucker-love.com reported that Steve Hewitt was allegedly involved with a musical side project entitled Ancient B. However none of us anticipated that it would become a project in its own right, as sadly with his recent and shock departure from Placebo there is now nothing along side anymore.
According to online diary entries at JonThorne.co.uk, Steve Hewitt has been in talks with Jon Thorne, known best for his work in the band Lamb, as early as January 2007.
Interestingly the latest information from Thorne comes mere days after news was made public that Hewitt is parting with Placebo. It once again reinforces that the project is definitely still on the cards and seemingly more than just a casual possibility as sources had previously informed fans.
…The autumn brings recording projects with Robert Miles/Robert Fripp, and a long awaited project with Steve Hewitt from Placebo.
Though the Placebo press announcement cited part of the reason for Steve’s withdrawal as musical differences, it is unknown if this was in direct reference to Ancient B. In March 2007 statements by Hewitt, made in a mexican interview with El Universal, projected that he’d be mixing Ancient B at this very time. However it is doubted that this would be his sole reason for departure as bassist Stefan Olsdal has openly discussed his own intentions for a side project, Hotel Persona, whilst remaining involved in Placebo.
Whatever the case may be, Steve Hewitt has proved himself to be a talented musician. Both his skill and personality have garnered him many fans throughout the years. Though it is with great regret that he will no longer be part of “The Holy Trinity of The Bo” we here at sucker-love.com will certainly be following any project he decides to tackle next.
Best of luck, Steve.
We’d all love to hear more from you, e-mail/call us for an interview…we’ll do lunch.

Placebo News[69] Comments
Placebo have parted company with drummer of 11 years, Steve Hewitt, due to personal and musical differences.
Brian Molko commented “Being in a band is very much like being in a marriage, and in couples – in this case a triple – people can grow apart over the years. To say that you don’t love your partner anymore is inaccurate, considering all that you’ve been through and achieved together. There simply comes a point when you realize that you want different things from your relationship and that you can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak.”
The split is amicable and a sad time for both parties. Steve Hewitt replaced Robert Schultzberg behind the drum kit in 1996 whilst the band were promoting Placebo’s eponymous debut album and went on to record the following 4 studio albums ‘Without You I’m Nothing’, ‘Black Market Music’, ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’ and most recently ‘Meds’.
Placebo have just returned from the USA where they were part of the high profile ‘Projekt Revolution Tour’ alongside Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. The band are now taking a well earned break.
Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal will begin work on Placebo’s 6th studio album next Spring and are in no rush to find an immediate replacement for Steve.
