Hotel Personal Debut Album Titled, “In The Clouds”
Posted by rougevelvet under Side Projects[18] Comments
Hotel Persona was essentially started when Stefan Olsdal and David Amen decided to spice up their friends big Spanish house parties by providing dance tunes to get people shaking their butts. Tracks like “Apocalypse”, “Fight for Love” or “The Fantastic One” mix pretty full on guitars with a thumping four to the floor beat that made people get down as well as sing along.
As the morning after reared its head, the song writing took a more naked and vulnerable turn with songs like “To the Light” and “Addicted” exploring the fragility of being in love and wanting to escape the harsh cruelty reality sometimes serves up. On the way a flamenco song (“The Sea”) and a lullaby came to be a part of the mix. The collection of songs was screaming to be recorded and so they roped in the effervescent Javier Solo to do the Spanish vocal duties. Stefan after years of developing his vocal tone with Placebo sang the English versions.
As the music was coming together, Stefan and David also kept themselves busy as ‘Hotel Persona DJ’, being invited to deejay around Europe, hitting the fashion capitals of Milan, Paris, London, Barcelona and even an exclusive in Rio. They have also been asked to remix some of rocks heavyweights like Queens of the Stone Age and She Wants Revenge. Tie this all in with an obsession with online social networking and you have a very active wide ranging fan base worldwide.
Their debut album “In the Clouds” is a co-production with Fabien Waltmann (programming and remix work for U2, Madonna and No Doubt). It was recorded and mixed in London, Madrid and New York (2005-2007). There is a wide array of additional vocals from the likes of Brian Molko, Samantha Fox, Miguel Bosé and Alaska (Fangoria) and it is a trip through the mind and moods of the band in the years it took to finally reach fruition.
Hotel Persona is now itching to take it on the road and into the clubs!

Hey does anyone know where I can actually BUY the album? or is it not released yet?
December 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
I think it must not be released yet as they didn’t state a date for that either.
As for buying it, I think a lot of us are going to have to buy and import it online as it wont be readily available in stores (unless you’re in Spain etc).
